Road safety from someone who has sat in your chair

Vision Zero Australia is led by Christopher Davis, a Senior Road Safety Auditor and 2020 Australasian College of Road Safety 3M Diamond Road Safety Award recipient. The award recognised the invention, design and construction of the Low-Cost Implanted Compact Roundabout — a treatment that outperforms Safe System threshold speeds for vulnerable road users at a fraction of the cost and build time of a conventional roundabout.

Twenty years working in and managing local government engineering teams sits behind every recommendation. We know what it feels like to be handed a consultant report recommending a treatment the budget can’t build. That experience is the reason our advice is filtered through one test: there is no point providing a recommendation a council cannot afford to act on.

Christopher is an Associate of Safe System Solutions, Australia’s largest road safety consultancy, which gives a specialist practice access to national-scale technical depth when a project calls for it. He is a qualified Project Manager (PMBOK and Prince2 Practitioner) and a three-time Austroads Project Working Group member, contributing to the national Road Safety Audit guide and the Regional and Remote Areas guide, representing local government and rural and remote interests.

The belief driving the work is simple. No one should die on our roads. The standards exist to serve a purpose, not to replace thinking — and where a more affordable, faster, more effective way to achieve that purpose exists, we document the evidence and present it until the industry absorbs it. Ten safe-system roundabouts for the price of one. Zero crashes. A decade of data.

Vision Zero Australia is based in Mildura and Melbourne and works across Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia. Professional Indemnity and Public Liability cover are in place; certificates of currency are available on request.
